What we have to offer
Trauma Recovery Coaching
It is time for a different approach, for a service which directly meets people's specific needs and is offered in a way that does not cause massive disruption to an already difficult and chaotic situation.
Catriona has been building and training her team of trauma recovery coaches to provide sensorimotor informed therapeutic support and solutions in people's homes and the community they live in. Tasks can be dealt with in an understanding compassionate way, where people feel empowered and enabled. They will work alongside you, offering much needed guidance, support and solutions, helping you to understand not just your thought processes, but also what is actually happening in your body. This will enable you to deal with the issues you are struggling with, both therapeutically and practically.
Catriona ran a residential trauma clinic for four years. She became more and more convinced there was a much better way to help people. Living with other traumatised people in close proximity, having to share rooms and talk about feelings in groups of strangers, was not for everyone. The residential side of the treatment for some people could be more damaging than the benefits of the therapy.
Catriona believes that the best way to help people struggling with life is to take the help to them and make it tailor-made to their specific needs.
We aim to offer help to people, before things get to crisis point. We offer solutions and coping skills, using sensorimotor applications with the psychoeducation to help you understand what is happening and why it feels like this.
Catriona has a team of people who have put together their skills and expertise to provide a totally unique service. We can help people overcome the seemingly impossible tasks, by helping them regulate their nervous system, find real resources which calm and give solidity and strength. We can help you see what parts of you are preventing you carrying out the task you need to complete. We can help you work with your fearful parts, have some resolution to your fears and get back the control in your life. We will not create a sense of dependency but rather we can help you gain independence and feel more resilient than you thought possible.
The things we can help with include:
Agoraphobia
Depression
Anxiety and panic attacks
Issues around food
Debilitating indecision
Problems managing addictive behaviours
General fear and avoidant behaviours
OCD
We offer an in-depth assessment, where together we will formulate a plan of what is needed and an agreement of how we will help you achieve your goals.
You will have a service that will help you maximise your strengths and recovery. Our aim is to provide the most help and least disruption to your life.

Therapist Supervision
Catriona offers supervision to therapists who work in a body centered way. This includes both somatic experiencing therapists as well as those trained in sensorimotor work. Catriona has many years of experience in supervising both in the NHS and also the therapy team at Khiron House.
Supervision is vital for safe practice, the effects of vicarious traumatisation are very often ignored or misunderstood. Supervision gives therapists not only the support they need to carry out the difficult work they undertake but also necessary for getting perspective and other ways of working. Using supervision to explore other possibilities within the work allows expansion, growth and healthy development for the therapist.

The supervision can be either face-to-face or over Skype.

Training for Organisations
Catriona has delivered training to a variety of organisations including the NHS, Caritas fostering and adoption services, social services and various charities.
Training packages vary and can range from full day events to a condensed presentation. Training is available for attachment, looking at how our attachments form, how they affect our ability to regulate our nervous system and how we relate to others. Catriona will explain how we can adapt and develop our attachment behaviours so we can stop cycles of repeating behaviour and improve relationships.
Training is also available to help understand the link between attachment and trauma, how our nervous system works and the effect on our body. This is vital for the treatment of self-harming and other addictive coping mechanisms used to manage our dysregulated nervous systems.

Equine Therapy
Rarely is one given an opportunity to see a mirror image of your inner state, an image that provides you with clear insight into where changes and healing are most needed. Through simple interactions with the horses and guided observations, you can get to the root of your fear gently and painlessly and without the need to analyse or focus on traumatic memories of the past. The horses replace your fear filled image with a new, calm, open and positive perspective on yourself and
your life.

Horses live mindfully with their minds in the moment and make perfect teachers of the art of mindfulness.
